About

About IntelliBowl

IntelliBowl helps dog owners pick a food. You answer a short quiz about your dog, and it ranks foods from a catalog of more than 27,000 products on how well their nutrition fits that dog. No pet food company owns IntelliBowl or pays for a spot in its rankings.

How the rankings work

Foods are ranked on nutrition and ingredients against your dog's age, size, health and budget. Brand, sponsorship and commission play no part. Affiliate links are added after the ranking is finished, and the picks cover more than one price range.

The full rules, including the AAFCO nutrient profiles and WSAVA guidance they rest on, are on the methodology page.

Where the brand scores come from

Each brand page answers the five questions the WSAVA suggests asking a pet food maker. Every answer cites a public source, such as the maker's own site or its product labels, and the page shows the month the evidence was last checked.

How articles are written

We use AI writing tools to help research and draft articles. A person on the IntelliBowl team reviews each one before it is published, and articles link to the sources they rely on.

Health conditions

IntelliBowl does not diagnose or treat dogs. If your dog has a medical condition or needs a prescription diet, ask your veterinarian before changing food.

How the site makes money

Two ways. When you buy through one of our retailer links, the retailer may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. And owners who want more than the free picks can buy a full report for $4.99. The affiliate disclosure has the details.
